Justice Minister David Hanson MP will be visiting Newcastle on 11 December to attend a community forum on crime, sentencing and community sentences.
Representatives from voluntary groups, criminal justice agencies, unpaid work beneficiaries, community groups and residents associations have been invited to attend this forum. It is an opportunity for local people to ask questions directly of the minister about national policy, crime and sentencing and to raise local issues and concerns. They will also find out about how offenders are supervised by the probation service and some of the work Northumbria probation undertakes with partner organisations to protect the public, reduce reoffending and to punish and rehabilitate offenders.
