Northumbria Probation Trust covers the county of Northumberland and the metropolitan districts of Newcastle, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Gateshead and Sunderland.
We supervise an average of 7000 offenders at any one time and employ approximately 700 staff. We have 20 community supervision teams across Northumbria, where offenders are supervised on a day to day basis.
We have six local delivery units, one for each local authority area, with a senior manager based in the area who is responsible for the delivery of local probation services.
This means that each local delivery unit will be able to concentrate on the particular issues and solutions which are most relevant to that area and will have the greatest impact on protecting the public and cutting crime.
The local delivery units are supported by area wide offender interventions services, business services and senior leadership team.
The area is governed by Northumbria Probation Trust Board and is part of the National Offender Management Service (NOMS).
